Words I Use

My glossary/terms/definitions

Narrative Power Dynamic: A power dynamic in a narrative, whether this narrative is a story being read, a roleplay, etc. I might sometimes just say power dynamic. Note that within the context of the narrative (‘in universe’), the power dynamic is real. It’s narrative to the out-of-universe audience.

I talk about some categories I have for narrative power dynamics here.

Principal: The ‘top’ in a negative narrative power dynamic.

Constrict: (as in, the noun form of ‘to constrict’, the difference in pronunciation like the one between ‘to present’ and ‘a present’). The ‘bottom’ in a negative narrative power dynamic.

When Darth Vader has Han Solo prisoner, Darth Vader is the principal and Han Solo is the constrict. If a convicted criminal is accompanying our heroes on their quest, but is under the authority of the Captain and has to wear a restraining device that she controls, the Captain is the principal and the convict is the constrict.

The kinks I have can be sorted into two major categories:

Narrative kinks are things I enjoy in story.

Actionable kinks are things I enjoy in real scenes involving me.
